Resumen:  The rapid growth and constant new range of language industry services requires new skills and expertise from Translation Studies graduates. The aim of this presentation is to share how the DigiLing project and the European Master’s in Translation (EMT) 2017 technology tools survey can be implemented to improve the current standard of training. The session will blend several complementary perspectives: first, I will give an overview and a critical analysis of recently-published surveys of the language industry, focusing on the expectations of employers and clients regarding the skills and competencies of new and established service providers. This overview includes major surveys such as the ELIA/EUATC 2018 Language Technology Survey, and the TAUS Translation Technology Landscape Report 2013/2016. Secondly, I will present a range of useful technologies reported in the EMT network highlighting the potential of combining tools belonging to different areas of the language services industry – such as subtitling, interpreting, translating, revising, and terminology research, among many others – into one coherent translation studies programme.
